However having just added new architrave to the bathroom door frame it s dawned on me that idea will look ridiculous because the skirting boards would be far too proud of the architrave. Skirting tiles offer a more practical and elegant solution to traditional timber skirting boards. Practically a skirting tile offers an easy to clean durable alternative to timber. I was initially unsure as we have mid grey brick type tiles and dark oak ish stained floor but now i m really pleased with it.

Value for money practical and aesthetically pleasing ceramic is the ideal skirting board. Keep the tiles the same throughout. The colour highlights the selected profile and can add texture to a white wall tile in bathrooms and kitchens. If the skirting tile has a profile with curves or rounded edges then white is an excellent choice.

As tiles are durable and easily wiped clean they re a low maintenance option for rooms where damage or dirt is likely. Aesthetically a tiled skirting floor offers a far better finish matching the tiled floor providing a neat transition between the wall and the floor tiled space. Leaving the appropriate gap around the outside between your tiles and the wall. But they look very glossy and slippery they will show up all dirty marks as soon as any sun is shining on them.

Originally i was just going to stick some skirting board on top of the bottom row of tiles when i ve completed the tiling. With the tiles you are changing to have pvc or wood skirting if you use tile for skirting it will look like a bathroom. Due to the lay out of the bathroom it would have meant skirting the bath panel tiled which would have looked odd i think. Tile skirting is becoming a popular choice for kitchens and bathrooms where wooden skirting boards are more likely to get damp or damaged.
