Twice a year i flush our barn dirt floors with baking soda and vinager then add more soil from different places on our property. So when we moved i put wooden floors into the goat pen figuring the urine would drain between the boards into the dirt below and the dirt wouldn t get compacted because the goats weren t standing on it. The part in the middle where it slopes down from each side and just outside is very loose like sand especially if it has been dry. I have not ever used lime so could not help you with that.

The part where the goats hang out a lot is very hard almost like stone. We converted our 8 x16 chicken coop into another shelter for the goats. It is so much easier to clean and helps keep them cool in the summer. This is a good basic floor plan showing the fundamentals of a goat barn.
